Core Services
Letters of recommendation (LORs) for medical residency, crafted by attending physicians after U.S. Clinical Experience (USCE), are pivotal for showcasing an applicant's clinical abilities, teamwork, and professionalism. Effective LORs are detailed, citing specific examples of the applicant's skills and growth, and underscore the importance of the applicant's experiences and interactions in a U.S. medical setting. The credibility of an LOR is enhanced by the letterhead, the writer's credentials, and a clear account of the applicant's USCE, including the type and duration. USCE MATCH aids in obtaining personalized LORs by offering various USCE types and guiding applicants in effective communication with their letter writers, though it emphasizes that timeliness and content depend on the applicant's initiative and performance.
USCE MATCH conducts an online town hall meeting for an hour at least once or twice a month. This session is exclusive for confirmed applicants only and those with a confirmed schedule for their rotation. Discussions will include how the matching process works, suggestions on how to write a personal statement, and how the attendings/preceptors will evaluate the students during their rotation and Q&A. Please check the schedule here: TOWNHALL SCHEDULE

USCE MATCH offers a unique advocacy campaign for exceptional applicants, facilitating direct outreach to residency programs to bolster their chances of securing interview invitations. This merit-based effort highlights the importance of displaying outstanding qualities, beyond basic requirements, in patient care and medical practice. Selection for this support is based on evaluations from attending physicians and staff, with chosen candidates prompted to list their preferred programs. This service, operational during the interview season, provides crucial support during the stressful waiting period, although the ultimate decision rests with the residency programs. Success stories from this initiative underscore its effectiveness in aiding applicants, even those with application challenges, in securing interviews and placements.
Other Add-On Services
The visa invitation letter or visa support letter is a formal document issued by USCE MATCH, to the student/medical professional who intends to do a United States Clinical Experience (USCE) as an integral part of their medical residency application. The visa letter is only provided to students/medical professionals who have completed the submission of essential requirements, such as passport copy, step report scores, application form, CV, down-payment of the rotation, and a confirmed start and end date of their clinical rotation. Please be advised that the decision to grant or deny a visa rests with the immigration authorities only, and USCE MATCH does not provide any guarantees.
A professional profile photo is crucial for aspiring U.S. medical professionals, serving as a key tool for establishing trust and competence. It's often the first point of contact on digital platforms, where a professional image can significantly influence first impressions, conveying reliability and professionalism. Regularly scheduled photo shoots allow individuals to work with a seasoned photographer, selecting five photos for enhancement, while being responsible for their own attire and makeup. Photo shoots are scheduled once a month, and you will be responsible for your own outfit and make-up. You will spend 15 to 30 minutes with a seasoned photographer, and you get to select five (5) photos to be enhanced and edited.
USCE MATCH offers packages inclusive of 28-30 days of accommodation (without meals). Since 2019, this host has been well-loved by our students who stayed with her. She can offer a complimentary airport pick-up on your arrival only at O’Hare Airport- this is based on her schedule and subject to availability. The accommodation is about a 10-minute walk from the Advocate Lutheran Hospital in Park Ridge and 15 minutes away from Jewel Osco (grocery store). Park Ridge is a very safe neighborhood in Illinois. The regular room accommodation will be shared with another student (same gender) or married couples. For an additional $ 250, you can have your own room. (please check the inclusions of the package). This accommodation option is highly limited, so it's best to confirm its availability before confirming the application, and a down payment will be needed to confirm the reservation.
Dr. Andrey Lev-Weissberg, will assess the overall readiness of your application. Areas in your application that need correction or improvement will be identified during the consultation. Dr. Weissberg will likely provide specific recommendations on how to enhance each component for a stronger application. The discussion will include valuable tips and best practices on how to stand out and be a memorable applicant. This guidance can be crucial in presenting yourself effectively to residency program directors. This is a one-time 30-60 minutes of virtual/in-person consultation. The discussion will include a succinct review of the following:
- Personal Statement
- Letters of Recommendation
- ERAS CV
- Tips and sharing of best practices on how to be a stand-out and memorable applicant.
If your profile is compelling and based on his assessment, Dr. Weissberg can offer to personally make phone calls directly to a program director or residency program to advocate for your candidacy. This proactive advocacy can increase your chances of receiving an interview invite.
USCE MATCH offers a complimentary lab coat with the company’s embroidered name/logo on some packages, courtesy of www.wearfigs.com. Looking neat, smelling fresh, and clean is fundamental to healthcare professionalism and patient safety. It's a practice that reflects not only personal hygiene but also a commitment to the well-being of patients and the highest standards of care. Dress code and proper hygiene are essential components that the preceptors and the organization measure. Everyone is encouraged to wear business casual attire, such as collared shirts, blouses, slacks, skirts, or dresses, closed shoes (no toes should be seen), and a clean white lab gown. A clean scrub suit with a white lab gown is also acceptable. These projects a professional image and demonstrate respect for the workplace and patients. Maintaining personal hygiene is a crucial aspect of our professional responsibilities in healthcare. In a clinical setting, we must ensure a comfortable and respectful environment for our colleagues and patients. Daily use of deodorant and a neutral perfume is a simple, yet effective practice that contributes to our cleanliness and professionalism.
Interview Preperations
The interview phase is of paramount importance, and it's critical not to underestimate its significance. Even highly qualified applicants can face challenges and, in the worst case, get unmatched if they don't perform well during interviews. Conversely, candidates who may be considered average on paper but excel in their interview skills can secure a match.

The National Resident Matching Program’s (NRMP) survey identified several key factors that program directors consider when evaluating and ranking residency candidates. The interpretation of this data means that the candidate’s academic profile, Step scores, ERAS CV, summary of USCE, Personal Statement, and LORs are vital components that can help secure interview invitations. However, the applicant’s interview performance can make a crucial difference in your ranking and ultimately define your match result. Remember this formula:
1st Step: Candidate's Profile = Interview invites
2nd Step: Candidate's Interview Performance = Ranking
= Match Result
